Painting Experiments: Water-Soluble Oils Schmincke Norma Blue Revealed

Hello everyone,

Wow, 2 posts in rapid succession, that’s unusual and probably highly unexpected 🙂
I have recently been exploring painting landscapes in a semi-abstract style using water-soluble oils and I wanted to share with you what I found in my experiments…
I received a starter set of basic colours from the Schmincke Norma Blue range to try, test and play with.

I really didn’t know what to expect: new style, new subject, new medium… that’s a whole lot of “new” going on…
With the paints that came directly from Schmincke in Germany, there was a note from my contact there. Suzanne’s note said “Dear Sandrine, here is our Norma Blue set for you to test and to fall in love with 🙂 Enjoy!” You have to admire the confidence! The note really made me smile and I thought “Ok, bring it on!”

So… a few weeks and a few paintings on, have I fallen in love? Here is the video in which I am trying, testing, reviewing and painting, including some of my new work in semi-abstract landscape:

And yes, I completely fell in love with these paints. I can’t wait to get more colours to play with. I am loving the semi-abstract experience, loving painting landscapes and loving the Norma Blue paints…

If you have experience with them, or if you have any questions about them, let me know what you think in the comments. I would love to hear your feedback and seek answers to your questions together.

Happy Painting!
Sandrine
