Hello,
I have some exciting news: I am running a course at Kew Gardens, painting roses from the wonderful rose garden. Kew’s Rose Garden is home to 170 different species and cultivars, so we’ll be spoilt for choice. Participants will be able to walk in the rose garden at the beginning of the day to pick their own rose. Then we’ll go back to the classroom and paint roses together.
The course will focus on drawing, tone, colour-mixing, watercolour techniques and composition.

I am going to Kew a couple of weeks before the course to pick the rose I will use as a demonstration. That way I will have a drawing ready for the day of the course, 23rd of August. I will also then be more familiar with the rose garden and the teaching space, ready to dive in!
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. As a botanical artist, if I am going to run a course, Kew Gardens has to be THE place to do it… In the world of plants, gardening and botanical art, Kew Gardens have their own magical place. I am delighted to be a little part of it, for a couple of days…
Date: 23rd August 2026 Time: 10:30am – 4:00pm Tickets: £125 (£115 for Kew members)
When I visit the gardens for the course preparation, I will take some photos and perhaps a short film to follow up with a “behind the scenes” post, to share a bit of summery Kew with all of you…
