Christmas palette and behind the scenes at West Dean College

I am running my first live stream course at West Dean on the 4th of December, to replace the physical course that was cancelled because of the new lockdown. I will be in Art Studio 1, my twelve students will be at home and we will all be in a virtual Zoom room, or in this case a Zoom art studio.

As single day courses are for beginners, the students taking part don’t necessarily have art materials available so the college is sending an art materials’ bundle by post before the course. I went to West Dean last Friday to prepare the palettes.

I made a video in which I talk about the twelve colours I chose for Christmas subjects and there is also some “behind the scenes” footage of the preparations in the Stone Room.

I am organising a Christmas competition on my Patreon subscription site, in which you can win this palette, with all twelve colours to try. These are big blobs so they should last for a while and supply you with enough paint for quite a few paintings. This is also a good way to try colours before investing in expensive artist quality watercolour tubes.

Some of you reading this might be booked on the course, so I look forward to meeting you then 🙂

Happy painting!
