Online live streaming classes

Last Friday I ran my first online live streaming course from West Dean College, using Zoom. This was organised as a pilot scheme by the college to replace my Christmas card course, which had to be cancelled. The course went really well and it was lovely to meet with my students again, even if only on screen.

I saw a lot of things on the twelve webcams that day… There was a nosy little boy walking nonchalantly behind his mum throughout the day, straining his neck to see what she was doing. A cat sat on a keyboard so all I saw for the next five minutes was a giant fur ball. He was forcibly removed and walked away with his tail up, managing to look outraged while at the same time pretending that going away was totally his own decision. A man’s hand appeared in the frame as he tickled his partner’s ear while she was concentrating on her painting. The funniest thing that happened was one husband popped in, looked at his wife’s work and said “Wow, this looks like a proper painting!”. Apparently it was a first and the highest of compliments, and she was very proud.

This lovely experience gave me the push I needed to start my own online live classes from my studio. I am starting with private lessons, in sessions of one hour. You can buy an hour that you can use either as a single session or as two 1/2 hour sessions. You can also send in a piece of work via email, either before the session or between the two, for some feedback. Or you can get several sessions and send a piece of work before each, for a tailored short course. You can buy sessions for yourself or as a present for someone else, or even get someone else to get some for you as a present…

If you wish to book some lessons, you can get in touch via the “contact” page here and we can arrange the details and direct payment with Paypal or by card. I can teach in English or in French, or a mix of both if you want a bit of practice.

I look forward to meeting you soon,

Happy painting!
