Starting my mentoring group for Mastrius

Hi everyone,

I am starting an exciting new venture that you might be interested in: I am mentoring for an organisation called Mastrius. They are based in Canada and they’re taking a different approach to teaching, which I am very much in agreement with.
They are employing artists who don’t only share their methods and skills. They also share their experience. On top of that, the teaching doesn’t focus on turning students into clones (an unfortunate current trend) but supporting the students, or mentees, in finding their own artistic voice.

The groups are small (maximum 8 people) so there is plenty of individual support and attention from the “Master”, but at the same time that’s enough people to create a supportive group of peers at a similar place on their artistic journey.
I have opted for an “Aspiring Artist” group, meaning (almost) beginners are welcome.
There is one monthly 2-hour session that includes lots of feedback on the students’ work and some demonstrations. There’s also assignments, to be submitted before the next session in order to get more feedback. Half way through the month, the students meet with the Navigator, who acts as a tech assistant and meeting facilitator, but is also a student and takes part in the assignments and feedback too.
Aside from the group, people who sign up to Mastrius have access to lots of online goodies and events. There is no commitment once you’re in, you can stay for a month or stay for much longer.
My group is starting on the 7th of May and will take place every first Tuesday of the month. Mastrius have given me a discount code to share with you: get your first month of personalised mentorship with me for only $19 (reg $87)!
